Russian Crypto Fraudster Roman Novak Murdered in Dubai Over Locked Wallets
Russian crypto scammer Roman Novak and his wife Anna were found murdered in Dubai after allegedly refusing to unlock cryptocurrency wallets containing millions of dollars. The couple, known for defrauding investors of nearly $500 million through various schemes, were lured to a remote desert meeting near Hatta before their disappearance.
Dubai authorities have detained several suspects—also Russian nationals—who face extradition to Saint Petersburg. The case underscores escalating risks in unregulated crypto markets, where high-value investors increasingly face kidnappings and violent coercion.
Novak had traveled to the UAE to recruit new investors, presenting himself as a well-connected entrepreneur. Forensic evidence suggests the couple switched vehicles en route to the fatal meeting, a detail now central to the international investigation.
